Question: How fast do maple bonsai trees grow?

How fast do Maple Bonsais grow? I always see them in the little pots but the thing says something about up to 10 feet...I was wondering how fast they grow.

Depends on the container size.. Bigger container bigger bonsai.. that simple.. Open planting 10ft in 7 years.

The word "Bonsai " translates to keeping the plant miniature through pruning, limited root space, etc. A good bonsai rarely exceeds 3 feet in diameter, and that is an old tree. The whole purpose of bonsai is the keep the plant small (tiny, acutally) compared to what it will do in the wild or just planted in the ground.

Bonsai translates to "tree in a pot " not miniature tree, bonsai are kept small by believe it or not growing it out to thicken up the trunk then chopping it down to where you want the first branch, then repeat untill taper buids throughout the tree, there are actually many different sizes of bonsai ranging from about 3 " to 4' the bigger the tree the more detail can be achieved, so basically you can keep a small tree in a pot small or you can grow it to the size you desire
