Yes, it does hibernate. When the temperature gets colder, move it in a place where the temp will not go below the freezing point, keep it there 'till spring. Don't feed it anything while it's dormant, just water it from time to time (rarely). On the up side, in spring you will be rewarded with a beautiful bonsai. Lack of hibernation might not kill the plant right on the spot, but in a few years I'm fairly positive it will. Also, if it does not get it's rest in winter, it will not look vigorous and... 'tall' and proud the next year:) |
