1) propagate by cuttage, long, leafless, hardwood cuttings in early winter when dormant one of thse plants that roots when it enters it's groeing season in spring. crape-myrtle is one of few plants that go dormant even down here in florida. would look great as bonsai; but not best choise for first attempt. 2) lowes - home depote or the like. 3)crape myrtles are native to deep south old world tropic.in florida we grow them outside to a height of 20' sometimes more. 4) crape myrtles need to be rooted from long, leafless, hardwood cutting, not condusive to bonsai, also they tend not to branch as you want a bonsai to. sorry. it does not flower; but a low growing juniper; pfitzer, is good. try to find one that has been neglected even abused at some large nursery. it will be in the back or half hidden some place off to the side or way in back. hold it up at eye level and try to picture what you can do with it. |
