Question: Question about bonsai tree?

Im sorta dabbing into bonsai tree. trees of choice are japanese maple, zelcova, and a cotoneaster...any suggestions? 1.) how much light? i know outdoor is better for most bonsai but if i place it by the window that gets about 4- 6 hours of direct sunlight...is that ok? 2.) how much/ often should i water? after the initial planting and trimming will they need lots of water? 3.)what kind of soil? is the soil the shurb come with enough?? thanks oh and almost forgot. how do you keep the leaves small and minuture too??
